Course Objectives
To offer a quality, comprehensive program for professionals interested in obtaining credentials for the interpretation of cardiac CTA.
To provide a quality educational experience focussed on the evaluation of the heart and pericardial structures through curriculum and interaction with credentialed professionals.
To provide the trainee with the ability to determine the best diagnostic modality and protocol to be used based on each patient's presentation and particular diagnostic problem at hand.
Specific Objectives of the Course
Upon completion of the program the participant should:
- Have reviewed basic physical principles of CCTA and its application in the study of cardiac anatomy, function, and hemodynamics.
- Recognize the clinical indications of the newer CCTA based angiographic techniques in the evaluation of vascular diseases.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the clinical applications of CCTA in the evaluation of acquired and congenital cardiothoracic disease.
- Understand the value and limitations of the newer CCTA in the evaluation of ischemic heart disease and current trends in its usage relative to other diagnostic studies.
- Understand the clinical utility of CCTA for coronary artery lesion detection and characterization.
- Understand protocol, sequencing, image parameters, and post-processing issues relevant to CT workstations.
- Have the knowledge and skills required for proper patient care through the understanding of patient flow.
- Have a knowledge of administration of medications and their benefits and contraindications.
- Have an understanding of proper delivery of contrast agents.
